Abbeyfield is a charity for elderly people, providing housing to more than 7,000 residents across the UK and internationally. It is our mission to enhance our residents’ quality of life through high quality accommodation in a stimulating environment, maintaining a socially active life.
We’re committed to providing the highest standards of care to our residents, and we believe that great care starts with great people. The interests of our valued staff and residents sit at the heart of what we do.
Abbeyfield is more than a home; it’s a neighbourhood, a community, a family. Are you ready to be a part of it?
Meal times are really important to our residents, and your role is crucial to making them as enjoyable as possible. If you’re passionate about high standards of cleanliness and love to serve good food, then we’d like to hear from you.
You will prepare pre ordered light teas, prepare food trolleys and ensure all preparation areas are kept clean and tidy A passion for food with previous experience working in a kitchen is preferable. Basic Food Hygiene Certificate is essential.
You’ll be great at making new friends and building relationships, and that way, you’ll know our residents’ dietary requirements and know how to cater for them, so that every meal time is an enjoyable one.

About the Company
Located in pleasant, quiet grounds close to the centre of the village of Kings Langley, Friars Mead welcomes older people who need specialist residential care.
To reassure our residents that they're in safe hands, we are registered with The Care Quality Commission for 24 hour elderly care of 26 residents, each with their own bedroom with full en suite facilities.
Our garden was upgraded in 2011/12 to provide a pathway with handrails so that residents, accompanied by one of our care staff if necessary, can feel safe. There is also seating and a fountain, with many flowers and shrubs for you to enjoy.
Where we can we utilise local suppliers, and all food is prepared in our own kitchen, which obtained a Five Star Award (the highest that is awarded) for Hygiene & Cleanliness in 2012.
