Kitchen Assistant - Abbeyfield House

We have an exciting new opportunity at Abbeyfield House for a Kitchen Assistant to join our team!

The role is based on part time hours of 21 hours a week, working over 3 days 10am-5pm. This will include shifts over weekends too. 

About us:

Situated in the cultural suburb of New Malden and surrounded by areas of natural beauty, easy access to public transport links and a bustling high street nearby, Abbeyfield House is a purpose built Dementia Care Home. We offered tailored and personalised packages of care, 24 hours a day to up to 36 residents at any one time. Each resident will have a beautifully furnished ensuite room, with a spacious, sensory garden and communal areas to enjoy.

The role:

As a Kitchen Assistant you will work alongside our other kitchen staff and Chef's to ensure the residents receive healthy and nutritious meals.

As a Kitchen Assistant your tasks will include -

  • Keeping all kitchen and store areas clean and hygienic
  • Spending time getting to know the residents, their dietary requirements and preferences
  • Managing incoming deliveries and the correct storage of goods
  • To be responsible for the daily use of catering equipment, monitoring usage and reporting any issues
  • Completing food and drink preparation and transporting prepared food to the relevant dining area to be served.

About You:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to be a team player, but also use own initiative
  • A relevant certificate in Food Hygiene Level 3, or be willing to complete this.
