Abbeyfield is a charity for elderly people, providing housing to more than 7,000 residents across the UK and internationally. It is our mission to enhance our residents’ quality of life through high quality accommodation in a stimulating environment, maintaining a socially active life.
We’re committed to providing the highest standards of care to our residents, and we believe that great care starts with great people. The interests of our valued staff and residents sit at the heart of what we do.
Abbeyfield is more than a home; it’s a neighbourhood, a community, a family. Are you ready to be a part of it?
A one of our valued general assistants, you’re at the front line of delivery. We’re passionate about creating a neat and tidy environment for our residents. So you’ll help us keep our Houses clean, tidy for our residents, and welcoming for our many visitors for communal areas.
Welfare checks on residents and health and safety tasks for house security and resident and staff safety.
With your attention to detail and high standards, you just know exactly how to make the residents feel as comfortable as possible and put a smile on their faces. Above all, you’ll treat residents with kindness, respect and compassion.
The Ideal Candidate
First and foremost, you will be a caring person who is compassionate, and understands the needs of older people. Additionally, you will be able to communicate and interact well with a wide range of people in varied situations. Naturally, as you might expect in a modern workplace, you must be able to read, write and work with numbers to a good standard. And it is essential that you are a strong and supportive team player.
To be highly suited to the role, you should be passionate about standards of cleanliness and hygiene, and will be keen to ensure that things are always neat and tidy. Better still, if you’re already experienced working in a similar role, may be within services for older people, then this is definitely the job for you.
In return for your commitment, we offer a great pay and benefits package. This includes:
● 31 days paid leave, including bank/public holidays (pro rata)
● Opportunity to learn and develop new skills for your career
● Occupational sick pay scheme
● Company pension scheme
● Shop and save discounts
About the Company
At The Firs Complex, we offer independent living in 42 properties, a mixture of both bungalows and flats. All of our properties are self-contained with their own kitchens and bathrooms. The scheme is mixed tenure with 60% of the residents being leaseholders.
With part of the complex previously being used as a maternity hospital, some of our residents were born here, some had their babies here and some worked here. Members of the public have visited to have a tour of the house, as it is where they were born or where their parents were born.
The Firs Complex is just a short walk from the main shopping street in Sherwood, we’re close by to bus stops.
