Role Responsibility

A one of our valued general assistants, you’re at the front line of delivery.  We’re passionate about creating a neat and tidy environment for our residents.  So you’ll help us keep our Houses clean, tidy for our residents, and welcoming for our many visitors.  This includes communal areas and may include residents’ flats and bedrooms.

With your attention to detail and high standards, you just know exactly how to make the residents feel as comfortable as possible and put a smile on their faces. Above all, you’ll treat residents with kindness, respect and compassion.

The Ideal Candidate

First and foremost, you will be a caring person who is compassionate, and understands the needs of older people.  Additionally, you will be able to communicate and interact well with a wide range of people in varied situations.  Naturally, as you might expect in a modern workplace, you must be able to read, write and work with numbers to a good standard.  And it is essential that you are a strong and supportive team player.

To be highly suited to the role, you should be passionate about standards of cleanliness and hygiene, and will be keen to ensure that things are always neat and tidy.  Better still, if you’re already experienced working in a similar role, may be within services for older people, then this is definitely the job for you.

About the Company

Abbeyfield House is situated in the charming market town of Beccles which lies on the River Waveney on the edge of the stunning Norfolk Broads and a five minute walk away from the quay.  Purpose built in 1987, our house is home to 11 residents who have the privacy of their own accommodation with the bonus of companionship from other residents and support from our dedicated team of staff.

Most of our rooms come with a newly fitted kitchen area for our residents to retain their independence should they wish.  We have a bright and airy conservatory where our residents and their loved ones or families can sit and chat looking out into our beautiful garden. Our residents enjoy regular coffee mornings and visits from local schoolchildren who come to entertain them.

An honest and open culture is encouraged by our home manager and her team, who are supported with regular team meetings and ongoing up-to-date training.  Our team is made up of committed, caring and professional people who are dedicated to ensuring that our residents are supported to do the things that they want to do, including the little things that matter.

As part of our team, you will have excellent opportunities to work with some amazing, caring people and give something back to our wonderful residents by enriching their lives.  If this sounds like somewhere where you would like to work, please do contact us.
