Abbeyfield is a charity for elderly people, providing housing to more than 7,000 residents across the UK and internationally. It is our mission to enhance our residents’ quality of life through high quality accommodation in a stimulating environment, maintaining a socially active life.
We’re committed to providing the highest standards of care to our residents, and we believe that great care starts with great people. The interests of our valued staff and residents sit at the heart of what we do.
Abbeyfield is more than a home; it’s a neighbourhood, a community, a family. Are you ready to be a part of it?
A one of our valued general assistants, you’re at the front line of delivery. We’re passionate about creating a neat and tidy environment for our residents. So you’ll help us keep our Houses clean, tidy for our residents, and welcoming for our many visitors. This includes communal areas and may include residents’ flats and bedrooms.
With your attention to detail and high standards, you just know exactly how to make the residents feel as comfortable as possible and put a smile on their faces. Above all, you’ll treat residents with kindness, respect and compassion.
The Ideal Candidate
First and foremost, you will be a caring person who is compassionate, and understands the needs of older people. Additionally, you will be able to communicate and interact well with a wide range of people in varied situations. Naturally, as you might expect in a modern workplace, you must be able to read, write and work with numbers to a good standard. And it is essential that you are a strong and supportive team player.
To be highly suited to the role, you should be passionate about standards of cleanliness and hygiene, and will be keen to ensure that things are always neat and tidy. Better still, if you’re already experienced working in a similar role, may be within services for older people, then this is definitely the job for you.
In return for your commitment, we offer a great pay and benefits package. This includes:
● 29 days paid leave, including bank/public holidays (pro rata)
● Opportunity to learn and develop new skills for your career
● Occupational sick pay scheme
● Company pension scheme
● Shop and save discounts
About the Company
Situated in the Wollaton area of Nottingham opposite the beautiful grounds of Wollaton Hall and the Deer Park, Middleton House is an attractive detached property built in 1935. Our home has easy access to bus services and local shops.
Middleton House offers 11 attractive studio units and one bedroom flats, all with ensuite shower facilities. We have an attractive communal lounge and dining room, assisted bathing facilities and kitchens on each floor. Our home is set in beautiful gardens which gives our residents the opportunity to sit out and enjoy some fresh air or do a spot of gardening.
Here at Middleton House we regularly open our doors to the local community, giving people the chance to see what its like to live at an Abbeyfield House. With a warm and friendly atmosphere, there is always something to do at our home. Everyone enjoys getting together for activities and events planned by our caring and enthusiastic team and great volunteers. There are regular coffee mornings and outings, a monthly calendar of activities which includes film nights, painting classes and beetle drives.
Through daily interaction we get to know our residents well and always ensure that everyone, staff included, are treated with kindness and respect. Everyone supports each other and works well together to help enrich our residents’ lives. If you feel that you share the same values as us, we would love to hear from you.
