General Assistant - Bank Casual
We want to keep our Homes as welcoming as possible. Every resident should enjoy a clean and well maintained environment that is presented to the highest standard. Your role is key to this.
You’ll work with the cleaning and housekeeping schedules as set by the Home Manager. These duties may cover cleaning of the residents’ bedrooms, the communal areas and offices. So you’ll be expected to respect residents’ wishes and preferences. Your role may also include ensuring that every resident enjoys clean and well maintained laundry that is well presented. This includes cleaning, ironing and folding clothes and linen.
You will also be responsible for the use of housekeeping equipment and cleaning products, and use these in line with agreed budgets and COSHH requirements. You aim to reduce wastage and report any defects in a timely manner. Finally, you’ll also ensure that store areas and equipment are kept clean, hygienic and tidy at all times.
The Ideal Candidate
First and foremost, you will be a caring person who is compassionate, and understands the needs of older people. Additionally, you will be able to communicate and interact well with a wide range of people in varied situations. Naturally, as you might expect in a modern workplace, you must be able to read, write and work with numbers to a good standard. And it is essential that you are a strong and supportive team player.
To be highly suited to the role, you should be passionate about standards of cleanliness and hygiene, and will be keen to ensure that things are always neat and tidy. Better still, if you’re already experienced working in a similar role, may be within services for older people, then this is definitely the job for you.
In line with your casual (bank) worker assignment agreement, we offer competitive pay that is in line with those of our employed staff in similar roles. And depending on how many hours you work, you will accrue leave at an equivalent rate of 31 days paid leave in a full calendar year, inclusive of bank/public holidays. (pro rata)
To carry out this role, you will be provided with mandatory training to get you started, as part of a comprehensive induction. To be eligible to work for us in future assignments, you will be expected to keep your mandatory training up to date.
About the Company
Built in 1924, James House is a Residential Care Home, based in Northwood. We’re not like typical care homes, as our house was not purpose built, but a family home that has been converted. James House is small, with twelve rooms, and aims to create a home from home feel and is still full of its beautiful original characteristics and features.
Situated in Northwood, our home is an excellent location with good transport links. We’re a five minute walk from the underground station, have good bus links, and we’re also a five minute walk away from the town.
We have a mix of residents with varying needs, and strive to provide person centred care at all times.
