Deputy House Manager
To support and assist the General Manager in the day to day running of the residential home.
You will have experience of effectively managing staff, playing a key part in ensuring that the Houses comply fully with all relevant regulations, internal Abbeyfield policies and processes, and that there is an effective internal audit programme to assure compliance.
The Assistant Manager would support the General Manager in the execution of their duties. They would require previous administrative experience and a high degree of computer literacy (Word and Excel). They should be used to working on several administrative tasks and be able to switch between them, whilst providing excellent customer service to people contacting Abbeyfield Darlington. Past management experience is essential as well as NVQ level 3 or above. A background in health and social care would be useful. Just as importance is an approachable, helpful nature, they should be ready to support the General Manager and build a natural and respectful rapport with our residents.
The Ideal Candidate
You would have equal responsibilities for call outs in the event of an emergency and work as required/directed by the General Manager. You would be required to have an up to date DBS check. You would build and maintain positive and productive relationships with the people we support, their relatives and wider support group. You would be part of a team but not just a team, a ‘work family’. Finally, as you’d expect in a modern working environment, you will need to be computer literate, and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).

About the Company
The Darlington Abbeyfield society comprises of three houses on one site. The estate offers high quality assisted residential living in Darlington’s West End. We provide family style living. Our staff provide high quality assistance to its residents and enable the residents to live independently later in life.
This role is advertised for the Abbeyfield Darlington Society who are an independent charity. You will be employed by this independent charity, therefore ‘The Abbeyfield Society’ will not be your employer.
