Experienced in health or social care, ideally working with older people, you’ll be familiar with CQC requirements. Ideally you will be qualified to QCF Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) or willing to undertake training to Level 3.
With more seniority comes more responsibility, so you’ll be keen to show your management skills and take charge for an entire shift, be able to work on your own initiative, and cope under pressure in a diverse and changing environment.
So if you are as passionate about care as you are about leading a team and taking responsibility, this could be the job for you.
We are committed to providing the highest standards of care, and we believe that great care starts with great people. Are you a caring, compassionate and welcoming person, who understands the needs of older people and is respectful at all times? Are you comfortable communicating and collaborating with a wide range of people in varied situations as well as a strong and confident team player?
And because we take the wellbeing of our residents and staff very seriously, you won't be surprised that to work for us, you must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (other than in exceptional circumstances), and intend to have any further booster vaccinations that are made available.
For over 60 years, Abbeyfield has been a charity that provides housing for elderly people across the UK and internationally. It is our mission to enhance the quality of life for our residents through excellent accommodation in a stimulating environment to help maintain a socially active life.
Abbeyfield is more than a home; it’s a neighbourhood, a community, a family. Our core behaviours are to be welcoming to everyone, celebrate the positives, work collaboratively, take responsibility, and be adaptable to changing circumstances.
Best of all, we’re a charity, meaning that the interests of our valued staff and residents sit at the heart of what we do, not shareholders.
Your role at Abbeyfield
Each resident is unique. The care and support they need is individualised and personal to them. You’ll lead by example, treating people with kindness and compassion. Your sensitive and respectful approach ensures residents maintain their dignity and feeling of self worth.
Your caring input helps to make things as easy and comfortable as possible for our residents. You contribute to residents' emotional wellbeing by getting to know them personally and supporting them to participate in social activities and events. You see the benefit of this stimulation by getting involved with planning, organising and delivering these home activities and functions.
To ensure each resident's needs are met, you’ll lead with the responsibility of regular monitoring of their health, care and social needs, plus the preparation, implementation and review of their personal care plan. This involves supervising other team members and liaising with people involved in their care, as well as with the residents themselves, to ensure their needs and wishes are at the centre of the care we provide.
A Great Place to Work
Located just outside Coventry city centre in Binley, Phil Mead House is a registered care home with 28 single ensuite rooms spread over two floors. Our home offers an abundance of spacious communal areas including a large conservatory where residents and their families can enjoy spending time together. In addition, we also offer a variety of activities where residents can pursue hobbies and interests if they so wish.
A friendly and open culture is encouraged at our home by our manager and her dedicated, caring team. Our team are highly valued and supported with regular team meetings and receives ongoing training to ensure all team members are kept up to date with good practice.
Our home from home environment is created by our team getting to know our residents’ likes and dislikes through daily interaction. Our work ethic is always to put our people first and to treat everyone with respect and kindness.
If this mirrors your own values and you would like to join our team, we would love to hear from you. For more information about Phil Mead House, please click here.
