Abbeyfield People

We are committed to providing the highest standards of care, and we believe that great care starts with great people. Are you a caring, compassionate and welcoming person, who understands the needs of older people and is respectful at all times? Are you comfortable communicating and collaborating with a wide range of people in varied situations as well as a strong and confident team player?

To apply for a role at Abbeyfield, you will need to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (other than in exceptional circumstances), and intend to have any further booster vaccinations that are made available.

Are you sensitive, empathetic and love to care for others? Do you enjoy building meaningful relationships and making a real difference? If that sounds like you, we think you’ll fit right in at Abbeyfield!  Whether you’re new to the world of care or looking to retrain, we’re looking for people to join our growing team of care assistants.

Don’t worry if you have no experience - we’ll provide you with all the training you need. What’s more important is that you have a natural calling to care!

About Abbeyfield

For over 60 years, Abbeyfield has been a charity that provides housing for elderly people across the UK and internationally. It is our mission to enhance the quality of life for our residents through excellent accommodation in a stimulating environment to help maintain a socially active life.

Abbeyfield is more than a home; it’s a neighbourhood, a community, a family. Our core behaviours are to be welcoming to everyone, celebrate the positives, work collaboratively, take responsibility, and be adaptable to changing circumstances.

Best of all, we’re a charity, meaning that the interests of our valued staff and residents sit at the heart of what we do, not shareholders.

Your role at Abbeyfield

As one of our highly valued carers, you'll be at the front line of care delivery. You’ll help residents with their individual care needs such as personal care, medical care and following social interests. You’ll build a special bond with each resident and give professional and emotional support during difficult times such as periods of illness.

You just know exactly how to make the residents feel as comfortable as possible and put a smile on their faces. Above all, you’ll treat residents with kindness, respect and compassion, ensuring each individual has a choice and feeling of self worth.

A Great Place to Work

Abbeyfield Winnersh is a dementia-friendly residential care home situated in the friendly village of Winnersh, Wokingham.  Our home has 62 en-suite bedrooms, each with a brightly coloured front door complete with a letterbox and street lamp. A wonderful range of facilities include a beauty salon, communal and private lounges and café which our residents and their visiting friends and families can enjoy at their leisure.

A large garden and roof terrace have been designed to encourage outside living with lots of areas for activity or relaxation in the warmer months or in our summer houses which are used by our residents throughout the year.  For the younger family members, a fun area and climbing frame is provided too.

We believe that it is important to treat our residents as individuals and tailor the care towards specific individual needs.  Our team is dedicated to ensuring all residents’ needs are met and expectations exceeded.

We passionately support our residents in being independent and carrying out their lives the way they wish.  We ensure that our resident care and wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do. If you feel that you share the same values as us and believe you can be a valuable member of our team, we would love to hear from you.
