Care Assistant - Bank Casual
What Abbeyfield Offer You
In line with your casual (bank) worker assignment agreement, we offer competitive pay that is in line with those of our employed staff in similar roles. And depending on how many hours you work, you will accrue leave at an equivalent rate of 31 days paid leave in a full calendar year, inclusive of bank/public holidays (pro rata).
To carry out this role, you will be provided with mandatory training to get you started, as part of a comprehensive induction. To work for us in future assignments, you will be expected to keep your mandatory training up to date.
Are you sensitive, empathetic and love to care for others? Do you enjoy building meaningful relationships and making a real difference? If that sounds like you, we think you’ll fit right in at Abbeyfield! Whether you’re new to the world of care or looking to retrain, we’re looking for people to join our growing team of care assistants.
We are committed to providing the highest standards of care, and we believe that great care starts with great people. Are you a caring, compassionate and welcoming person, who understands the needs of older people and is respectful at all times? Are you comfortable communicating and collaborating with a wide range of people in varied situations as well as a strong and confident team player?
And because we take the wellbeing of our residents and staff very seriously, you won't be surprised that to work for us, you must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (other than in exceptional circumstances), and intend to have any further booster vaccinations that are made available.
For over 60 years, Abbeyfield has been a charity that provides housing for elderly people across the UK and internationally. It is our mission to enhance the quality of life for our residents through excellent accommodation in a stimulating environment to help maintain a socially active life.
Abbeyfield is more than a home; it’s a neighbourhood, a community, a family. Our core behaviours are to be welcoming to everyone, celebrate the positives, work collaboratively, take responsibility, and be adaptable to changing circumstances.
Best of all, we’re a charity, meaning that the interests of our valued staff and residents sit at the heart of what we do, not shareholders.
Your role at Abbeyfield
As one of our highly valued carers, you'll be at the front line of care delivery. You’ll help residents with their individual care needs such as personal care, medical care and following social interests. You’ll build a special bond with each resident and give professional and emotional support during difficult times such as periods of illness.
You just know exactly how to make the residents feel as comfortable as possible and put a smile on their faces. Above all, you’ll treat residents with kindness, respect and compassion, ensuring each individual has a choice and feeling of self worth
A Great Place to Work
Built in 1924, James House is a Residential Care Home, based in Northwood. We’re not like typical care homes, as our house was not purpose built, but a family home that has been converted. James House is small, with twelve rooms, and aims to create a home from home feel and is still full of its beautiful original characteristics and features.
Situated in Northwood, our home is an excellent location with good transport links. We’re a five minute walk from the underground station, have good bus links, and we’re also a five minute walk away from the town.
We have a mix of residents with varying needs, and strive to provide person centred care at all times.
