Bank Kitchen Assistant
This important role assists in providing healthy and nutritious food for our residents, which is crucial to their wellbeing and quality of life. By keeping all kitchen and store areas clean and hygienic, and following all hygienic practices, you will help protect our residents and keep them safe.
But your impact reaches beyond the kitchen. There are plenty of opportunities for you to get to know our residents, enhance their meal time experience and develop your hospitality skills.
Meal times are really important to our residents, and your role is crucial to making them as enjoyable as possible. You will be committed to maintaining the highest standards in the kitchen, during the food preparation process and meal delivery. You’ll therefore manage the cleaning procedures and schedules for the kitchen in line and even exceeding the relevant Environmental Health standards and those expected by the Cook.
Your attention to detail and people skills mean that you are aware of all residents dietary requirements and hydration needs and ensure these are always followed at meal times. You also check incoming deliveries and put them away so they are organised and easily accessible.
You’ll also be responsible for the daily use of catering equipment, monitoring usage in line with COSHH requirements, and ensuring that any issues are raised. And under instruction of the Cook, you’ll undertake some food and drink preparation and take prepared food to relevant dining areas to be served.
The Ideal Candidate
First and foremost, you must be a naturally caring person, who is empathetic and understands the needs of older people. You’ll also need to be able to communicate and interact well with a wide range of people in varied situations. And as you’d expect in a modern working environment, you’ll need to be able to read, write and work with numbers to a good standard.
A strong and supportive team player, you must also be in possession of a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate, or willing to complete this during the first few months in your role. So if you are new to this role, we will provide you with all the training and support you need.
Better still, if you are already QCF qualified to Level 2 in Food Hygiene, this is definitely the job for you.
In line with your casual (bank) worker assignment agreement, we offer competitive pay that is in line with those of our employed staff in similar roles. And depending on how many hours you work, you will accrue leave at an equivalent rate of 31 days paid leave in a full calendar year, inclusive of bank/public holidays. (pro rata) And in order to carry out this role, you will be provided with mandatory training to get you started, as part of a comprehensive induction. To be eligible to work for us in future assignments, you will be expected to keep your mandatory training up to date.
